Our last stop in Greece was the island of Crete. It was an Amazing Race like experience in order to catch the last bus to Chania (ha-na), but of course we loved the thrill. Chania was one of our favorite stops during our trip and we were in awe of the architect which was a blend of modern, Venetian, Turkish and traditional styles.
We had a very early (DeeDee was thrilled) start to the morning to hike the 18km Samarian Gorge through the White Mountains.
The views were incredible and it was so refreshing to be away in the woods. Although the path was quite stony, the terrain and scenery were awe-inspiring and it was a beautiful day.
The day ended with a giant gyros (yummmmm) and a swim (ahhhh)!
Our last day in Greece was spent in the city of Iraklion where we visited the palace of Knossos. Geoff was in history heaven, and DeeDee survived!
